Default **HELP!!*Brands great for African American Hair

Other than all those African-american based hair care brands like Motions n Soft Sheen, what else can we use? I've always had this mind frame that we(african americans) cant just use anything.
My cousin in Philly uses Garnier shampoo (dnt know what exact kind tho). She only puts heat to it once a week and she hasnt had a relaxer in over a year. I need one every few monthes and i always gotta flat-iron it wen I wash it.

My b/f wants me to wear my hair down but I cant til i get my co-worker to do it. I have split ends every where and it has grown out of it's cut so it's uneven all over the place so I keep it in a pony tail most of time times(partly for work)
I would like to make my hair stronger(it breaks off) and keep my hair/scalp moisturized (Vegas is pretty dry) and if possible get some length to it.

I think I'll start with the olive oil. John Frida is too expensive for me right now. We stopped carrying Humectress by Nexxus (thats what you meant right brooke?) but we still have the conditioner. I'll check another store for that.

Thanx ladies. If you have any other suggestions that would be great. I'm tired of using grease, do you think a moisturizer is a good replacement?

Also, does hair gel runin your hair? My hair is shorter in the front so it always comes loose when I put it up. I need something to keep it down cuz I cant wear my hair down at work(it looks horrible)

Yeah I meant humectress. Joico kpak shampoo is good and paul Mitchell tea tree shampoo work good. Hair gel is drying to your hair if it is alcohol based. Ic fantasia gel is non drying.
As for moistures keracare humecto works. There is an oil that is really lite and works wonders but its HELLA expensive. It called global goddess. It cost $45 but last a while because you don't use much.

Oh i just looked up IC fantasia gel, we(walmart) carry that so that's good.
I never heard of Keracare and I dont think we carry paul Mitchell so I wll look those two up. I would be tempeted to try anything with tea tree oil( my mom uses it as an antiseptic and it works great).

Didnt Rod make a post about some kind of chemicle companies use in hair care products that's actually bad for your hair?
