I feel what you're saying, but at the same time there are several approaches to having the 13 yr/old do things without it being related to gender. Its good to hear you think about that way though, because coming up my mother and grandmother tied me learning how to cook to having, getting, and/or keeping a man and that steered me FAR AWAY frm the kitchen. I mean I cook, but nothing special to be real and all the times that I have thought "hmmm maybe I should learn now" its because I think of what they said. I want to get in the kitchen and learn to cook things I like, for ME, because I need to eat. Not for a man. Let them tell it that's why I'm single now...LOL.
But I mean keeping it real on some this is personal things that you should learn how to do once you are on your own and/or away from home to be able to live in a clean environment...etc.
