damn that video is horrrrrible
but i dunno i see it as your paying money to a player to play not to watch...and if they waived jerome james and stephon marbury...yeah theyd be losing out on alot of cash but you could give two people minimum contracts who want to be there coughpatjrcough...and could play there heart out every night

This is the best day a basketball team can have on a day when it moves up on having the worst personnel in the NBA, and maybe the worst team. This is the day when an old New York basketball guy named Donnie Walsh declares himself, declares that he is not here to build a team for the second round of the playoffs, declares that he is going for it all at the Garden, even if he has to tear down the whole place in the short run.
The Knicks got rid of their two top scorers Friday, a November day the likes of which no NBA team has had in recent memory, and maybe ever. First, they traded Jamal Crawford to Golden State for Al Harrington, a talented kid whom Walsh has always liked and who has a contract, one expiring in 2010, that Donnie Walsh absolutely loves to death.
"I drafted Al back in 1998, and I think his talents are a great fit for our style of play," Donnie Walsh said. "This trade also gives us more long-term flexibility, while enabling us to remain competitive this season."
Walsh didn't stop with Al Harrington. A little while later he got rid of Zach Randolph, his other high scorer this season, and Mardy Collins, sent them to the Clippers for Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley. In the process, Walsh took away the early-season hope that this Knicks team has given Knick fans for a much greater hope:
MITCH LAWRENCE'S NBA POWER RANKINGS
That they really can get LeBron James if James becomes a free agent in 2010, that they really can win a championship with him, so the Knicks don't have to go as long without winning a championship as the Rangers did before the spring of 1994.
And if the Knicks don't get LeBron - even though Walsh will have them as well-positioned as any team in the league by then - they can go after Chris Bosh, or Dwyane Wade, or Amare Stoudemire. They might even have a chance at Steve Nash, too.
You know what Walsh really showed everybody Friday? He showed you a plan at Madison Square Garden. Haven't had one of those in basketball there for a long time, maybe not since the Knicks were beating Walsh's Pacers on the way to the NBA Finals nine years ago.
This is what the Knicks should have done five years ago. But Isiah Thomas would not, or could not, rebuild the Knicks this way. He didn't have the patience, he didn't have the vision. He wasn't willing to lose big to win big, even though he ended up losing big anyway. So he kept throwing good money after bad and he kept overspending on players like, well, like Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph. And Stephon Marbury. And Eddy Curry. And the Knicks kept falling deeper and deeper into salary-cap hell in the NBA, the worst fix like this there is in all of sports.
Now Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni try to get them out of it.
Randolph is not a player for a championship team, not in a million years. Crawford is not a player for a championship team. Nor is Stephon Marbury, nor is Eddy Curry. Right now, there are two players on the current roster you can see on a championship Knicks team someday:
Wilson Chandler, David Lee.
You've got Chandler for a while. You can re-sign Lee. The rest of them you can have. Some will go sooner rather than later.
But Walsh had to start this job now. I believe he couldn't wait, couldn't let the Knicks even start to look like a team that might actually go 41-41, maybe get the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs and draft in the middle of the first round next year. Walsh does what he does now. The Knicks have needed somebody to be this smart and ruthless for a while. To have a plan.
Isiah's only plan was to get to the next plan, from the day he got to town. The shame of it all is that James Dolan let him keep going, let him keep spending, on teams that ultimately couldn't even win 30 games. Maybe the Knicks, even running the way you know they'll keep running under D'Antoni, still putting up all those 3-pointers, won't get to 30 wins this season. Or maybe D'Antoni can work some magic with the players he has left. Or maybe Donnie Walsh isn't done yet.
The Knicks got a lot worse Friday. Never a day like this, not this early in the season. Best day for them in ages.
