Hip Hop Music entrepreneur and trendsetter Jay-Z is planning to revolutionize fashion the fashion
scene with his own line of men's formal-wear. Entitled the S.Carter clothing collection
tenatively, the line is coming after many months of rumors about Mr. Carter branching out from
his Rocafella partners.
After breaking away from Rocawearpartner Damon Dash, Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, is keen
to make a move back into clothes and "wants to refine urban fashion" with a S Carter fashion
line, according to his partner Steve Stoute.
The superstar is currently in negotiations with a number of fashion houses interested in
helping produce the S.Carter clothing collection.
Stoute told the press, "The kids are going to do what they're going to do. I'm going for the
guys who came up like I came up - who are still listening to hip-hop and wearing pants sagging
off their a$$."
"If this really happens, I think it will be a possible fashion revolution that could happen soon
after Mr. Carter's line launches" said Rodrick Rainey, founder of Hip Hop Fashion internet
site URB1.COM. "I've been watching over Urban and Hip HOp fashion the past 3 years and single
handedly, in a New York minute, Jay Z has changed Pop, Hip Hop, Urban, and all other main stream
fashions because of his crisp image. This will be a big change for him, but I think the video
and album track -Change Clothes- really opened this door for him."
The S.Carter formal wear launch date has not been announced nor surfaced on the internet.
URB1.com's founders, as well as URB1 Magazine's fashion editors expect the line to launch
in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2005 if reports turn out to be true.
URB1 Magazine, the first Hip Hop Fashion publication that focuses on the true inner city fashion
trends, also features an article about Jay-Z and his expected fashion moves. Found in the
March/April bi-monthly issue of the magazine, people seeking a more detailed look at what's going
on with Mr. Carter, can visit URB1MAG.COM to subscribe or buy the issue.
