Baby Phat first came into existence as a publicity tool in 1999 when, in
an effort to electrify his men's Phat Farm runway shows, hip-hop mogul Russell
Simmons began producing tiny tees with the words "Baby Phat" stitched on the
front. When celebrities and supermodels began sporting the new tiny t-shirts,
the demand for these hot "baby tees" increased. Ultimately, the decision was
made to launch an entire Baby Phat collection to be spearheaded by former
model Kimora Lee Simmons.
Today, the slinky Baby Phat feline logo can be seen everywhere and is the perfect
statement for the bold, fun, and sexy attitude of the Baby Phat woman. Whether
evidenced by the glimmer in the rhinestones on
a pair of jeans, or the Asian-inspired cape donned on the runway, Baby Phat by
Kimora Lee Simmons is the first women's hip-hop label and represents the
fashion forward woman who defiantly sees the world on her own terms. The
collection features denim separates, leather, outerwear, jewelry, handbags,
sneakers and a diamond encrusted limited edition Motorola mobile telephone.
