Rihanna is set to be the face of Gucci’s UNICEF campaign which will see special limited edition products sold to benefit the global children’s charity.

“We wanted someone with a strong personality. I felt a musician and a beautiful woman was the perfect icon for this campaign,” said Frida Gianni, Gucci’s Creative Director.

The 20-year-old Barbados native will appear in ads for the “Tattoo Heart” campaign, after Frida Giannini saw her at a UNICEF fundraiser earlier this year, and sought her out to be a part of the drive to raise funds for children’s rights.

A special limited edition selection of Gucci products will be sold to support the charity, with 25 per cent of sales being donated to Unicef.

Rihanna is no stranger to charity work. The pop star set up her own charity in 2006 called The Believe Foundation and has assisted in other humanitarian efforts without taking publicized credits.

In addition, the singer signed by rapper Jay-Z is planning on launching her own clothing collection. Rihanna told Women’s Wear Daily Magazine “I love fashion, so it’s only natural for me to want to create my own line. But I want to be very hands-on with it all, and that’s something that takes time.”

Other details on the clothing line are not found but will be posted on sojones.com Urban fashion site upon release.
