While some thought the selling of Rocawear Clothing to Iconix Brand signaled the demise of the Hip-Hop clothing brand, Jay-Z is still standing to prove them wrong. Still in charge of the Rocawear brand direction, brand President Shawn Carter has only improved the quality of the line since. Launching Rocawear Premium and a the Rocawear Fragrance collections, he is now adding R+ and Roc Climber boots to the range of products offered.
If you’ve paid attention to Jay-Z lately, you may have noticed him wearing a new style of boot that looks premium and very comfortable. Some speculated Jay-Z to be wearing high-end japanese streetwear brand boots in the Hip-Hop fashion and sneaker forum community on Sojones.com, but those people were indeed wrong. The premium boots are actually part of the Rocawear apparel range and soon to be released at limited store accounts.
The new boot entitled the “Roc Climber” are made of what look to be very comfortable materials. In the interior of the shoe, which looks to be UGGS inspired, there is plush lamb wool. On the exterior of the Roc Climbers boots, there are the options of classic timberland-like suede or soft leather. To give the feet proper breathing, te Rocawear Roc Climbers are lined with Microfiber LiningMesh.
To complete the make of a great boot, the Roc Climbers bottom is a development from Italy. Notice it showcases a unique polished treatment that is found only in high-end fashion footwear.
Part of the R+ premium collection, Roc Climber boots have a suggested retail price of $119. They will be available November 2008 on Rocawear.com.
The R+ collection is a new premium range that Jay-Z has been working on with the brand’s Creative Director Jameel Spencer. The range is to be about the look of the ‘new’ urban street wear consumer. R+ by Rocawear will be less logo driven and more tailored to fit the buyer. The designers of the new range want the target consumer to be more design-enthused than brand following.
