Hip-Hop’s elite is taking a strike at fashion once again. To everyone’s pleasure, this artist’s clothing line is more than a boring t-shirt line, but a complete fashion collection. Outkast rap duo member Andre Benjamin, better known as rapper Andre 3000, has launched the Benjamin Bixby clothing collection.

Originally debuted in early 2008, the Benjamin Bixby collection is just as eccentric as the respected Hip-Hop artist presents his mind to be in the entertainment world. Thought to be inspired by the Golden Era of the United States, where word was your honor and creative minds were more abundant, the line is definitely catering to the individual not afraid to be himself.

“For an African-American guy to be a prep, that’s a dichotomy,” Dre told the New York Times. “Prep style comes from mostly affluent families who just wear these cool clothes. But when you come from a background that has more struggle, your take on it will be different. There’s a certain kind of rebel to it.”

While some say Andre Benjamin’s style may be a little to unique for the average guy today, retailers disagree. In fact, the reaction from young men has been strong, said Tom Kalenderian, the men’s wear fashion director at Barney’s where Benjamin Bixby will be displayed. “Though you are looking at plus fours and collegiate sweaters that remind you of the past, it is very current with today.”

Suspender-pants, Classic club sweaters, High quality Pea Coats, and capri-pants, may be the next trend in popular culture. Those inspired by the era which men stood for something and held character firmly may latch onto Benjamin Bixby clothing, molding the brand into a timeless lifestyle collection .

“I can’t pretend I’m from New England or I’m at school at Harvard or Oxford, but when you think of men’s dress, you have to give a nod to England,” he said. “They created it all and brought it to America. We calmed it and made it cool.”

Andre 3000 personally loves his collection. Its said he carries luggage of his own clothing to media events and photo shoots, and wears only Benjamin Bixby because he feels it best personifies his character in pictures.
