Russell and Kimora Simmons announced that their Phat Farm and Baby Phat sneaker lines have been
out-selling major competitors such as Nike and Reebok in stores across the United States.
Kimora Lee-Simmons Baby Phat sneaker, known as the Diva Trainer as well as Russell Simmons'
"Phat Farm Classic" shoe moved over 36,000 pairs of shoes through 900 Finish Line stores in
a single week. These numbers are greater than the sales of shoe producing majors, Nike, Reebok
and Adidas.
Russell Simmons told reporters "Nike is $10 billion dollar company. I remember 10 years ago
when I first started in this business, all anyone bought was Tommy and Polo. Now we are
competing with them and they still dont see us coming."
The Baby Phat Diva Trainer, which debuted in August, 2004, was in high demand, and helped
establish Phat Farm as one of the leading urban clothing companies worldwide. And being out
almost 2 months, the Diva trainer's hype has not slowed down at all.
