Will.I.Am Says No To Upcoming Michael Jackson Posthumous Album

Fans of Michael Jackson might be jumping for joy for the rumored upcoming release of a posthumous album. The highly anticipated album is said to contain unreleased materials, including the collaboration between the King of Pop and Lenny Kravitz.

According to a source, the album will consist of 10 to 12 new tracks and although yet to be finalized, names like Lenny Kravitz, Akon, T-Pain and will.i.am also surfaced as guest musicians accompanying MJ in the said tracks. Lenny Kravitz, however, responded to the leaked portion of his song with MJ “Another Day”, by posting a video on YouTube, stating that he would like to see the song have a proper release.

Although they speak the universal language of music, not all artists are on the same page when it comes to Michael Jackson’s upcoming posthumous album. Huffington Post reported that will.i.am. as one of Jackson’s collaborator is openly opposing the idea.

“I don’t think that should ever come out. That’s bad. He was a perfectionist and he wouldn’t have wanted it that way. How you gonna release Michael Jackson when Michael Jackson ain’t here to bless it?”

In 2008 will.i.am collaborated with MJ on the re-release of Thriller and remixed some of the classic songs in the album. According to him, MJ was meticulous when it comes to musical productions. He stated:

“Now that he is not part of the process, what are they doing? Why would you put a record out like that? Because he was a friend of mine, I just think that’s disrespectful. What’s wrong with what he already contributed to the world?”

The Black Eyed Peas personnel also declined to bend his opinion when asked about the high demand for new music from the late singer:

“So what? You don’t disrespect someone when they’re gone. … How much can you suck from his energy? … Freaking parasites!”

So far the Jackson estate hasn’t commented on the matter. What do you think, SoJones readers? Is it really that unethical to release Michael Jackson’s posthumous album or do you think the world deserves to know what’s in MJ’s vault?
