sneaker-pimps-artworkSee how simple sneakers can turn into amazing art and celebrate the metamorphosis.  Sneaker enthusiasts should gather in Atlanta on May 15th, 2009, as the Sneaker Pimps will tour ATL.  The Sneaker Pimps Tour was founded in Sydney, Australia by Peter Fahey and has traveled to -and wowed sneaker fans in more than 60 cities world-wide and put on over 200 shows since 2003.

The festivities include an exhibition, featuring over 1,500 pairs of rare, limited edition, vintage, celebrity signed, artist collaborated sneakers and a collection of sneaker-inspired artwork, fashion and photography.  There are also live street art installations, and as the symbol of the sneaker’s closeness to the youth lifestyle, live skateboarding demonstrations, street basketball competitions and live hip hop and rock performances by the world’s biggest recording artists are also in the menu.

Street art lovers might be familiar with the works of Futura, Dave White, Stash, Mister Cartoon, Shepard Fairey, Tokidoki, Dave Kinsey, SBTG, Methamphibian, Doze, Bigfoot, Tkid, Cope2, London Police, Dalek, Claw Money, Lady Pink and Ghost for they are listed as some of over 500 top and up & coming street artists who have contributed their original works to Sneaker Pimps.  As for live skate demos, Sneaker Pimps has featured international pro teams such as Ice Cream, NK SB, Zoo York and many more.  While from the music world, Nas, EPMD, DJ Premier, Lupe Fiasco, Funkmaster Flex, Ghostface Killah, Cool Kidsa and Clipse are those who have grazed the stage of the event.

As for the coming ATL tour, there will be live performances by ATL’s locals such as Big Boi of OutKast, DJ Clark Kent, Young MC, Greg Street.  Aside from live performances, as they do in their previous tours, the Sneaker Pimps event will also feature live street art installations, an Xbox 360 Gaming area and a collection of sneaker-inspired artwork, fashion and photography.  Among the local visual artists are Dosa, Michi, Tindel and Shaun Thurston.

The event will be held at TABERNACLE, 152 Luckie Street, Atlanta on Friday, May 15th, 8.00 p.m. Ticket is sold for $20 per person and can be obtained at www.livenation.com and for more information, visit Sneaker Pimps website at www.sneakerpimps.net.  This event is open for public.

    That is so cool. Shoes have always been a way of expressing myself, but never seen it taken to such an awesome level before.
