A Sneakerhead’s Haven

No, that’s not a retail warehouse. That’s someone’s personal shoe collection.

And guess what? It’s for sale. Corgishoe, the  guy selling these shoes, is an avid shoe collector and works for The Hundreds. He has over 2,100 shoes and has not ever worn a single one. EVER.

Sneakers say a lot about a person. A pair reflects your style, passion, and can even get you a job. My friend Brad ran into an acquaintance who admired the white Alligator shoes Brad was wearing. “I love your shoes. I’m hiring at the castle. Wanna work for me?”

But some of us fellas don’t want to wear Ferragamo’s or anything of the sort. We’d rather have a hi-top blazer with a crisp pair of jeans:

or maybe the Jason Kidd’s (who remembers these)

Ken Griffey’s “Swingman” series:

The craze for what’s exclusive is huge. Streetwear vendors know and live by that rule. Bryan Lorenzana, owner of Chicago streetwear clothier Saint Alfred, says “People will buy it whether they have the money or not. They will put it on their card and make the purchase. It’s our culture. We’re consumers.”

Take the Nike Air Yeezy for another example:

The suggested retail for these Kanye West designed shoes is $215 but St. Alfred sells them for $330. On eBay, they can go as high as $700.

More examples of what sneakerheads crave:

HUF X DVS

“Huf’s next collaboration with DVS are these Doughboy-like sneakers, called Ricos.  Given a treatment of pastel colorways ontop of a flattened out sole, these should appeal to those looking to get more of a smarter look to their outfits.  Huf tagging is implemented throughout these canvas based shoes.  No set release date at this time.”

Let me know in the comments what’s the first shoe you ever saw and fell in love with. It can be Payless, Keds, Dennis Rodman for Converse, or Target velcro shoes.

Keep your fingers crossed also; I’ll be trying to get in touch with Johnny Cupcakes for an exclusive Sojones interview!
