Up and Coming New R&B Artists in Fashion Campaign

For the past three years our friends over at DrJays.com, a leading online retailer of street fashion, presents Summer Sensations. And what’s that, you ask?

The future. Peep this:
A select group of artists were chosen to model for DrJay’s “Summer Sensations” campaign, dressed in the hottest items for this summer 2009 season; the campaign will run across the site from June till September.

Let’s meet the models shall we?
1. Def Jam R&B artist Jeremih

After recording his demo in a homemade studio using Pro-tools with an engineering major/friend, the 21 year old “Birthday Sex” hitmaker says on his coming to Def Jam: “I feel like I can hang with these artists at Def Jam.”
If he can hang with DrJays, we’re sure Def Jam ain’t a problem.

I really like his shoes too. Diamond Burn Out Polo by Sean John, Silicon Jeans by Sean John, and blazer high by Nike

2. Nicki Minaj, age 23

nicki_1.jpgAKA Nicki the Ninja, Nicki the Harajuku Barbie and Nicki the Boss…This lyrical assassin studied at the New York School of Performing Arts and eventually caught the ear of Lil Wayne! If that doesn’t motivate you to keep hustlin’, I don’t know what will…
I love her straw hat and sweater dress (by Coogi).  She’s ready for summer; and probably some freestyle battles as well.

3. Livvi Franc

HELLOOOOO LOVER.

This sultry 21 year old has a wide scope in her taste of music, and her sound; From country, R&B, Folk, and Pop. Livvi has already worked with top industry producers such as RedOne (Lady GaGa), JR Rotem (Rihanna, Leona Lewis), Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Kylie Minogue) and more.

I Love the Printed Maxi Dress by Baby Phat she’s wearing; though she looks more ready to go out for dinner on the town though.

4. David Rush

This young man is special.  Not because he’s better than any of the other artists, or because he’s boldly rocking the mohawk, but because of his particular outlook on life.  After recording the hit song “Go Girl”, it eventually landed on the desk of Miami rapper Pitbull, landing David Rush a deal on Pitbull’s Mr. 305 label.

But on March 16, 2007, he woke up in the hospital, heavily monitored and attached to machines. The doctors found that David had Focal Glomerulosclerosis (FGS), which ruined his kidneys and gave him only a year to live. In spite of it all, David has worked tirelessly with his doctors to maintain a good life despite his very serious condition. And so far so good. He’s in a rush for the top. And we at SoJones salute that.

5. Shonie

At only the age of nine, singing in choirs and eventually landing a deal with manager James Jackson of Slick Salt Entertainment, who released her nationally distributed mixtape hosted by DJ Khaled.

Shonie originally did music as a rapper. “I have the gift to be versatile, so I plan on showing both sides.” But of course, Shonie kept her musical goals at hand. She has worked with Trina, Flo Rida, B5, Trick Daddy, Cool & Dre and more.

Shonie holds not punches in sharing her thoughts, secrets, or emotions to the world through her music. “I want to touch people all over the world with not only my vocal abilities, but my truth which is birthed through my lyrics. I want to be known as the popular songstress that is respected and successful for my sincerity that is displayed through my music.”

Shonie looks and acts the part as one of summer hottest acts! Polo Player’s Polo by Rocawear, Sweet Tarts Straight Leg Jean by Rocawear, Court Force High by Nike, Limited Edition Authentic Signature Sweater Bag by Coogi, and Baby G Shock Resistant Watch.

6. Nipsey Hussle

Nipsey keeps it real. And as the first signee to the Cinematic/Epic Records joint venture, is effectively building momentum as a rising emcee. In anticipation of a fall ‘09 debut, his street singles “They Roll” and “Bullets Ain’t Got No Name” (both featuring The Game) are lyrical proof that Nipsey Hussle is here to stay. His upcoming album is slated to feature the likes of Snoop Dogg, The Game, Sean Kingston, Lloyd and Nipsey Hussle’s own Slauson Boyz.

“I try to keep a balance with my career and who I am aside from that,” says Nipsey. “It’s kinda hard, but I try to stay the same and balance both worlds. You don’t wanna forget where you come from and at the same time, you don’t wanna miss your blessing trying to live the same lifestyle you been living.”

Guess he’s too thuggish for a little color in the wardrobe…Nylon Jacket by Member’s Only, The Returner Jean by AKOO, and Berlin sneakers by Reebok
