Best and Worst Hair in Hip Hop and R&B

I’ve been reading comments in some forums, and on the comment list here as well, about my “Top 10 best dressed in hip hop & R&B” post. A lot of you disagreed. Prepare to disagree again!

Let’s start with the worst:

Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly of the hip hop group Kris Kross:

Chris has alopecia. And… I feel sorry for him being on this list.

Stevie Wonder

I respect the hell out of this man, so it’s with reverence he’s even on here. Now for someone who CAN help it:

Keyshia Cole

She’s ok now, but when she first came on the scene… meh!

Lil’ Mo

Her choice of extensions are beyond me. I just can’t today!

Kanye West

The mohawk he did? Yeah. Nuff said.

And remember Diddy’s mohawk?

He’s not hip hop or R&B (or good, for that matter) but I remember when Sanjaya from American Idol sported a Fauxhawk one night:

What a waste. But I digress.

The mohawk ‘do is one of those things only badasses like Mr. T should sport.

For others it just never works as good.  Our last candidate for worst hair is…

KHIA!

Maker of one of the nastiest songs in radio history, and also a reason fellas might have gotten “play” in the club when this song was popular, Khia is simply a certified mess.

Best hair in Hip Hop and R&B:

1. Rihanna

Little Miss Sunshine changes hair styles a LOT, so the reason she’s on this list is because more often than not, she’s always looking good. Really good.

2. Ciara

Her hair is usually fine, it’s her mannish-ness we wonder about usually. Something’s…just…not…right…

3. Sade

Simplicity always counts. What a beauty. And yes, she is still relevant, reader: Sade has a new album coming out this fall:) November 24th to be exact! Hope it doesn’t get pushed back.

4.  Keri Hilson

It just works for her. Could not see her in long hair anyways…

5. Tamia

Had to show love to my Latina readers out there.

And fellas, you’re welcome.

6. Mya

Looking at this list it would seem im making one for sexiest women in music…But I’m not. I promise!

7. Ashanti

She switched it up amongst the best of them I think.

She can actually act a bit too; she wasn’t bad in that Resident Evil movie. Then again, I’m a Resident Evil fan boy.

8. Brandy

If she can keep her hair like THAT, it’s perfect. One of my favorite R&B singers, and the stylist for her did awesome beyond comprehension!

On the other hand, she has had her mountains and valleys to go through:

The earrings are a big no-no as well, but that’s for another day.
