So What if You Can Dance… Do You Think You have Style?!
Since the series first premiered on July 20, 2005, the nation has been fixated on what “So You Think You Can Dance?” .
The TV series dance competition features a mix of contestants who range from unknown street dancers to winners of national championships. All contestants have to work their way through a rigorous audition process, and, over the course of the show, are assigned different dance styles and partners each week to test their versatility.
But how did these contestants do on their fashion scorecard? They each have custom made costumes for each event, matched to each dance style such as Salsa, Ballroom, Hip Hop, Street Dancing, Contemporary, Jazz, and Ballet.
2005 Season 1: Hip hop meets jazz!
Duo: Top 16 contestants Nick and Kamilah
A lot has changed from 2005 to now including hip hop attire.
But if you like this look, here’s what you do:
For the men, start with an LRG swinger fedora
An Artful Dodger striped v-neck:

and a Sean John preppy stripe shirt:
One more from Season 1!
Duo: Contestants John and Michelle do the Mambo…
I’ve got my eye on Michelle for this one, I don’t imagine any guys wanting to wear all black, looking like a Mambo dancer in the club. So ladies, like the dress? Try this on for size:
Rocawear Rita dress ($29.99) from $54.00

and her shoes:

Baby Phat Rhiannon Sandal ($65.99) from $80.00
Contestants Lauren and Pasha do hip hop. I wonder if those skeleton sweaters are still in style..
If so, you got the Artful Dodger Skeleton Tee ($40.00)

Katie and Joshua do one of the most memorable routines ever:
for what Joshua had on (with a little bit of my fashion eye on it) check this out:
Your jacket-

AKOO Casestacker track jacket
Your shirt-

Sean John Platinum Status Tee($30.00)
Your Jeans-

Lot 29 destroyed back pocket with grommet denim

On Katie:

there’s so many more obviously, but let’s hear what caught your eye for this season and season’s past in the comments!

Dancing and style go hand in hand just like music there is just something about a great swagger to make it all blend beautifully
