9th Wonder’s Latest Collaboration: Puma Sneakers

9thwonderPatrick Douthit has come a long way from his little broadcast booth at North Carolina Central University where he deejays for the school’s radio. He’s now known to the hip hop world as 9th Wonder, a music producer whose production credits include the big names in the industry like Jay-Z, Nas, Destiny’s Child, Memphis Bleek, De La Soul, Murs, Jean Grae, Masta Ace and many others. His long list of clientele made 9th Wonder a producer with a wide vision, merging the underground and commercial hip hop world in the tradition of producers DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Hi-Tek and Kanye West.

Although swimming in the vast hip hop ocean and mixing excellent records for the biggest hip hop artists, 9th Wonder’s sound is infused with soul loops and jazz sentiment. He has a background in classical music and music theory, and this give his music a maturity that surpasses his years. 9th Wonder is dubbed the genius and is currently being compared to jazz greats Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk. He creates a sound that transcends hip hop and blends them smoothly with soul, jazz and R&B.

2009 would be the year where 9th Wonder wanders to the exact fluid world of urban fashion and teamed up with sneaker giant, Puma, to collaborate in releasing a new sneaker collaboration. The shoe’s photos leaked and from the first look, it seems like 9th Wonder is paying homage to his Justus League crew.

The shoes feature fresh touches, including a black on black 9on the side of the upper part on one side, with a shout out to 9th Wonder’s Justus League crew on the other side,  If you look at the back, there are “J” and “L” representing Justus League on each heel.  The clear mid-soles are also new with a blazing red 919 area code print on a white background.  Sport a little nationalism with the red, white and blue stitching on the Puma stripe and on alternating eyelet rings.  Look inside the tongue and there are more personal touches by 9th Wonder.

There is still no confirmation on whether these sneakers will be available for purchase, but check back on SoJones.com for upcoming info.
