Death Row Records Goes Hollywood with Movie “Sons 2 The Grave”

Recently SoJones.com had an exclusive interview with Lara Lavi, new CEO of Death Row Records to talk about their revitalization of the label and forays into new businesses. Well, they’re about to get busier. Death Row has officially announced that they will be launching a film production unit that will get its soundtracks from the Death Row Records catalog.
Death Row Films is ready to shoot their debut movie titled “Sons 2 The Grave” this coming October in Toronto. “Sons 2 The Grave” will star Sons 2 the Grave Tonya Lee Williams (Olivia, Young and the Restless), Dorian Harewood, K.C. Collins, and child actor, Cameron Miles Jones. The movie will be loaded with soundtracks from the famous Death Row catalog which includes Snoop, Tupac, Dr. Dre, etc. New CEO, Lara Lavi stated:
“This film embodies what we’re trying to do with Death Row, to tell human stories that don’t always have happy endings, and that allow us to learn from violence and disenfranchised lives, but not glorify it. We’re looking at film properties that relate to Boyz n the Hood-type stories, and to power the films with Death Row music.”
The plot revolves around a young basketball star who comes back home to the ‘hood after getting shot and due to his injuries, results in killing his dream of being signed by the NBA.
Meanwhile, on the music front, look out for quite a number of new drops like unreleased Tupac material, which will commemorate the late rapper’s June 2010 birthday. Additionally ”The Chronic Re-Lit“, a re-master of Dr.Dre’s solo debut, has just dropped, which includes 7 previously unreleased vault songs and a DVD of never-before seen footage of track contributors Dr. Dre, Snoop Doggy Dog, Kurupt, Daz Dillinger, Warren G, Lady of Rage, RBX and Nate Dogg.
