Tiny and Toya: Final Thoughts
Tiny and Toya Episode 5. Grade: B
So concludes the end of what has been a highly discussed show here at SoJones, and of course I want to thank you for making this topic so fun to write about! I read all your comments and appreciate all of your feedback.
This last episode concluded a series what was seen by some (as I so aptly put it) as “buffoonery”, and to others as a surprising view on two black women who, in the midst of their struggles, are learning to move on. Tiny in the sense of learning to cope with her man T.I. being in prison and making use of idle time by forming two girl groups, and Toya in getting over a tumultuous relationship with Lil’ Wayne.
Here’s what happened:
1. The dating game

Toya talks with her daughter Reginae, who jokingly gives Toya permission to start dating again.
2. “I’ve been watching you, watching me, and I know you want it”.. (TLC)

..James Hardy kickin’ his game at Toya. Makes you believe in love again. Maybe. Toya seemed to like it though!

Later they go bowling, and Toya on the way home tells her girlfriends all about how good it went.
Oh, and James Hardy ain’t too shabby in the football department (don’t know why there’s no music in the video; just put some Mobb Deep in the headphones and you’ll be fine):
3. Tiny and the girls get ready for showcase

The groups OMG girlz and Juice prepare for their showcase; Tiny, why those names? Juice? Really?? Maybe it’s clever and the highlight of their careers will come from a Kool-Aid endorsement, but I digress.
OMG Girlz in action:

Juice:

Z-lister D. woods of Danity Kane showed up for the showcase because…let’s face it, what else did she have to do that day? Exactly.

Also in attendance was Teyana Taylor. She made a song called “Google Me” and…oh yeah! She’s forming a band called “UGLY”. What better person to start a band by that name! I kid, I kid..

4. Family first

During the conclusion, Tiny then surprises Toya with a visit from Rudy who has decided to stay with her in Atlanta.
A very happy ending, and the first star on the proverbial chart I will give to this show, because at least the main characters got something done. Lots of questions to be answered though:
1. Will Toya ever finish that book? Should she be even writing a book?
2. Are the OMG girlz and Juice actually going anywhere with their careers?
3. How does Lil Wayne raise all those kids of his? (Oh wait, he doesn’t.) A+ to Toya for getting outta THAT relationship!
What unanswered questions do you have for this show, reader? Share your thoughts in the comments!

The show is entertaining however, I wouldn't call these two women independent. They've both relied on men to get where they are today (nothing wrong with that-I WISH a rich man would take care of me). I don't think these two women are role models. I don't even think they would want to be considered role models besides to their own children.
