Dr. Dre & Hewlett Packard To Save Digital Music
Hip hop impresario Dr. Dre, Interscope Chairman Jimmy Iovine and Hewlett Packard have teamed up to save digital music. HP says it will release limited-edition laptops which will feature “Beats by Dr. Dre” software this fall.
Details on the software’s features have not been revealed yet, however sources at HP said that the laptop will feature a “cutting-edge” sound system named “Beats Audio” which is a unique, high-performance audio software solution.
The software is available exclusively on the HP Envy and offers users playing music or audio through headphones or external speakers “the optimal sound experience, the way the artist intended it”.
Dr. Dre recently launched a successful range of headset called Beats by Dr. Dre with German company Monster Cable.
Although some techies were skeptical of the celebrity endorsement, the headphones turned out to be high-quality and managed to gather a lot of fans in a short time. He even managed to get his celeb friend Lady Gaga to also endorse her own range of super-stylish headphones.
Word is, the Dre-Iovine-HP team will be luring Apple fans with musically sensitive ears.
Iovine told CNET News:
“We have to fix the entire chain. Our position is to go to all the sources and try to improve sound and educate people…We can’t put anything weak in the line. Whoever puts out things that sound bad shouldn’t be as cool as something that sounds great.”

Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine
Well who else could determine what’s good and what’s great than Dr. Dre, the man who has produced hit albums for Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and 50 Cent? Based on his previous success with the headphone line Beats by Dr. Dre, the partnership expects consumers to tolerate the yet-to-be-revealed ‘premium price’.
Will it be worth it for your eardrums, or at least match your Beats by Dr. Dre headphones? You’ll have to wait. But here’s another angle of the “HP Envy 15 Beats” laptop. You know, just to keep you salivating.
