Singer Monica Shows Us Why She’s “Still Standing” on BET

Back in the 90’s  these three made up “the trinity” of solo female R&B singers:

The three ladies dominated the charts. One has had a TV sitcom (Brandy’s Moesha), and one has acted in many sitcoms and films, one of them being a sitcom with Jamie Foxx (Mary J. Blige for The Jamie Foxx Show. See episode below):

But only Monica Denise Arnold, the Grammy award winning songstress, actress, songwriter, and the youngest artist  to ever have two back-to-back No. 1 hits on Billboard’s R&B singles chart, has her own reality show.

Lucky for us, BET is launching a series about Monica and the many roles she plays on her show “Monica: Still Standing”

To promote the show, Monica has a record of the same name coming out December 2009, with contributions from Missy Elliott, Ne-yo, Polow Da Don, and more. Monica will also be debuting her own childrens/infant clothing line called “Regions of Rock”. Busy girl!

Says Monica about the show, “It was very scary stepping into the type of situation that would expose me and my life, but I think that there are so many kids now that are aspiring to do exactly what I’ve done and I felt like that was worth me putting myself on the line so they would really understand what it’s like to try and  juggle both a music career and personal life.”

Couldn’t agree more. I cannot wait to share my reviews with you for this one. Out of all the shows so far, I anticipate this one the most! What do you think this show will bring that the other reality shows like ”Frankie and Neffe” or  ”Tiny and Toya” haven’t, reader?

“Still Standing” debuts October 27th on BET.

    monica is a soldier and a strong woman…not only is she a great mom she is very very talented…THE VOICE OF OUR GENERATION…..MONICA IS A INSPIRATION AND I THINK ITS ABOUT TIME SHE GET HER PROPS FOR BEING A VET AND A SANGERS SINGER FOR SO LONG IN THIS INDUSTRY!

    Happy to see that monica is finally getting some props which is long over due. I have every album she has ever dropped and I don't feel that she got the credit for making such good music from the heart that every girl/woman can relate too. You don't have to be ghetto to feel and understand and feel what she so expresses well in her music. I think that over time, some of the song that she did not put out there but have on the album should've gotten air play and was better than 1 or two that she did put out. Anyway, it;s about time she gets into the spot lite again and I can't wait to hear her long awaited album. Cause every time she pushes it back I get disappointed.
