SoJones Dopeness: Marc Jacobs X South Park Protect Your Largest Organ T-Shirts

Since being ‘South Park’-ed as “Muscle Man Marc” back in November 2011, we knew something was up between Marc Jacobs and the creators of South Park. The designer is paying tribute to the Comedy Central series by featuring its characters on t-shirts to benefit The Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group at New York University.

The t-shirt features Eric Cartman, Randy Marsh and Butters Stotch, all going naked with a message “Protect Your Largest Organ” placed in such a way on the front of the t-shirt. Before going cartoon, similar campaign has grabbed the likes of Naomi Campbell, Dita Von Teese and Victoria Beckham. As it turned out, dealing with cartoon characters was harder than with the ladies.

Marc Jacobs President, Robert Duffy stated to WWD:

“They’re very, very cautious about collaborations. We’ve worked with so many artists in the past, and I’d say Trey and Matt are the most protective of their brand. They were so involved, to the point of wanting to know the texture of the T-shirt and how thick the paint is on the silk screen.”

About not putting Kenny on the t-shirts, Duffy said:

“I really wanted to do Kenny, but they said there was absolutely no way they were going to let me use Kenny, I wanted to see what he looks like without his coat.”

The t-shirts are available at Marc by Marc Jacobs boutiques and online. Each are sold for $35.
