Fresh Music: Whitney Houston’s Final Recording for Sparkle Revealed

Before her untimely death in February 2012, Whitney Houston was involved in a movie production with American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks. The movie, Sparkle, tells the story of the challenges faced by a vocal group made up of sisters when they achieve success.

Sparkle is a remake of the 1976 movie starring Irene Cara and Lonette McKee. Houston plays Sparks’ mother. Derek Luke, Mike Epps, and singer Cee Lo Green are also part of the cast. Sparkle was directed by Salim Akil, who is also known for his work on Jumping the Broom and The Game.

Although Sparkle isn’t set to release until August 17, 2012, one song from the movie was revealed via Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Monday. The song is called “Celebrate,” and it features Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks singing a duet.

“Celebrate” was produced by R. Kelly and will be available on iTunes June 5th. Meanwhile, here’s what it sounds like. Any thoughts on Whitney Houston’s final collaboration?
