Gabby Douglas to Release Memoir

Gymnast Gabby Douglas has yet to shed her post-Olympics glow. After earning a gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics, Douglas has been on a seemingly non-stop media tour. The 16-year-old joined McKayla Maroney and Kyla Ross in L.A. for a pre-VMA press conference. She announced Lil Wayne’s performance at the prestigious awards show.
Douglas also helped promote the Kids’ Health Goes Gold initiative in Charlotte, North Carolina, and she went political by leading the pledge of allegiance at the Democratic National Convention.
The whole media frenzy didn’t stop Douglas from fulfilling her longtime dream of writing a book. Titled Grace, Gold, and Glory: My Leap of Faith, the book tells the story of Douglas’ childhood in Virginia and how she decided to leave home to train for the Olympics. Douglas stated:
“Even before I competed in the Olympics, I always wanted to write a book.”
The book will be published by HarperCollins. The publisher’s senior VP, Lisa Sharkey, said of Douglas:
“Gabby Douglas shines even more brightly than her Olympic gold medals. The reason is her inner strength and strong faith.”
The memoir is scheduled to hit stores in December. Will you be getting it?
