Rihanna and Nicki Minaj Lead in American Music Awards Nominations

The 40th Annual American Music Awards is just around the corner and the nominations are out. This year, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna take the lead in nominations each with four nods. Canadian rapper, Drake follow the ladies with three nominations. After puking on stage recently, Justin Bieber scored three nominations along with Maroon 5 and hot boyband One Direction, while R&B singer Usher also rocked three nominations. Award-winning singer Christina Aguilera announced the nominations from LA, October 9th.

Young Money artists Tyga, Nicki Minaj, and Drake are competing in the “Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop ArtistL category. While in the “Favorite Album Rap/Hip Hop” category, Nicki Minaj and Drake still have to beat J. Cole to prove Young Money’s supremacy.

Executive producers Allen Shapiro, Orly Adelson, and Larry Klein released a joint statement, saying:

“The 40th American Music Awards will once again represent the epitome of pop culture featuring today’s biggest stars and music icons all on one stage.”

Don’t miss the show as the 40th Annual American Music Awards will be broadcast live on ABC from the Nokia Theatre at L.A., Sunday November 18 at 8:00 EST.
