The fun thing about covering stories about start-up streetwear brands is watching them evolve over time. SoJones has been observing one brand in particular that’s only one year strong.  Meet N-Dividual Klothing and check what Ryan Cooke has to showcase from N-Dividual Klothing.

Introduce yourself and describe how your brand was started?
Whats up, my name is Ryan Cooke and I am originally from Gloucester, VA…about ten minutes from The City Of Newport News. Currently I reside in Richmond, Va and I attend Virginia Commonwealth University. The brand was started in Winter 2008, by myself and a friend, Faith Hamlett. We started out with 100 Promo Tee’s With The Signature Trademark Bunny, and sold out in less than three weeks. After that, it became so big around Richmond and Virginia Beach that we started getting orders from stores, and requests to appear in fashion shows all over Virginia. Now we’re at our 1 Year Anniversary, and about to start the designing for the Spring Collection.

Describe this season’s theme for your line. Include any sources of inspiration (examples: 80′s punk, muses like Amber Rose, 70′s disco bands, Kanye, etc)
This season, for The Spring Collection we will have Embroidered Snap Back Hats, V-Necks, T-Shirts, Hoodies, and Skull Caps, with other designs in the works. We are inspired by everything from art galleries, skating, surfing, and musical influences like Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Kev Tha Hustla, and Kanye West. We try to branch off into many different cultures and lifestyles, but make them all connect into our brand.

Any product placements on celebs to keep an eye out for (examples: publicity photos, magazines, movies, music videos etc)
Yes, actually Curren$y And Wiz Khalifa had a show in Richmond, Va this past weekend, and Curren$y wore the Signature Bunny Hoodie on stage! But keep an eye out for Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, And Kev The Hustla wearing the brand alot. Jets Fool!!!

What has been a surprise fashion hit over the last year? (a particular piece, a look or even another brand)

I would have to say the company Play Cloths has made a major splash this year. So it’s all love.. VA all day!

What current fashion trend would you like to see thrown overboard?
I can’t say it’s a current fashion trend, but I will say please let those oversize clothes Go! Ha! It’s horrible that it was even a trend.(Shakes My Head)

What is/was one of your most prized fashion pieces, past or present?
The Jordan 1 Stealths. A true classic.
