Kiehl’s Gives Back on Earth Day with Pharrell Williams and Jeff Koons

Having the naturalist aspect to their ethos, Kiehl’s decided to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day by giving back. Kiehl’s did this by launching a product for which the proceeds fund rain forest awareness. Kiehl’s describes the venture, stating:
Thirty years ago, Kiehl’s Since 1851’s founder stated, “A worthwhile firm must have a purpose for its existence. Not only the everyday work-a-day purpose to earn a just profit, but beyond that, to improve in some way the quality of the community to which it is committed.” In this spirit, we continue to develop of products which support charitable efforts, like our Earth Day 2010 Limited Edition Açaí Damage-Protecting Toning Mist, which raises funds for the Rainforest Alliance.
Kiehl’s was able to round up a pretty diverse group of contributors to this project to help out with the product packaging art, and design. Pharrell of N.E.R.D., Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream, is one of the artists who stepped up and imparted some of his artistic brilliance for the cause.
But Pharrell wasn’t the only one the Kiehl’s recruited for this gig. Larger than life artist, Jeff Koons, celebrity actress Julianne Moore, and professional surfer/fitness model Malia Jones also each lent their creative services for the product.

To celebrate Earth Day, Kiehl’s threw a swanky launch party at their flagship store on Third Avenue, in New York City’s lower east side. SoJones was in attendance to document the Earth Day Festivities.

Of the contributing artists, Malia Jones was the only one who attended the party. She was looking very springy and naturally stunning.

Other personalities that joined in on the Earth Day fun were Kelly Bensimon, Parker Posey, Kimberly Stolz, Richie Rich, and Brian Donnelly (KAWS), to name a few.

One thing was true of all of the Kiehl’s Earth Day party atendees, they were dressed to impress. Since the weather was compliant, there were plenty of very stylish spring outfits to be seen.

Sojones hopes that everyone else enjoyed celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. Be sure to check out additional photos from the Kiehl’s event, below (all event photos by: Jacob Breinholt– Product photos by: David LaChappelle):
