Hollywood Glamour.  The Red Carpet.

The words are synonymous with mega watt stars, exclusive backstage interviews and best dressed lists. The who’s who of fashion!!!

Today’s urban superstars are continuing to keep this extravagant and glamorous tradition moving forward. Sleek haircuts, unquestionable elegance, shimmering makeup, second to none fashion and sometimes a nod to streetwear keep the red carpet ceremonies exciting with paparazzai and fans begging for more.

Whether it’s hip hop glamour, Hollywood goddess looks or super mogul suave, urban celebs rise to the occasion to keep the red carpet fashion exciting and unpredictable. Some of the Hollywood red carpet looks are influenced by rap star looks with a twist.  Music stars such as Rick Ross can be diversified in their approach to formalwear, pairing a suit with gold for a “street touch” as he did at the BET Awards Ceremony. Others opt for traditional attire with a personal twist such as Sean Combs.  Mary J. Blige in a flowing chiffon ombre tonal gown.  Beyonce’s gowns created by her designer mother.  Or Christina Aguilera’s “Jean Harlow” look.

Other distinct and accredited actors such as Samuel L. Jackson might be in a suit with his signature Kangol cap.  Or Halle Berry and Vanessa Williams in a designer dress.  Jada Pinkett-Smith in an electric blue strapless evening gown.  Rhianna in emerald green satin.  The full range of looks is evident.

Programs such as The Insider, BET, Entertainment Tonight, E! as well as other media compete for red carpet interviews, photos and names of designers the stars are wearing.  Fans wait countless hours, paparazzi keep lenses open and network staff keeps interviewers ready to catch the next star walking the carpet.

Of course this isn’t new.  But the difference is the music stars continue the tradition with a distinct fashion styles that offer a wide range of looks.  Some of those looks are influenced by street fashion.   Nowadays we don’t ask “who won?”.  We ask “what did they wear?”  And the star’s influence doesn’t end there.  Red Carpet glamour is so infectious apparel manufacturers have been known to look for the hottest styles to knock off and sell to their customers!!!

Whether at The Grammy’s, Actor’s Screen Guild Award, Oscars or Celebrity Charitable Events the new breed of “urban glamour stars” continue to bring excitement and new trends to Hollywood glamour and the red carpet.
