Urb1 was searching through many new designers to find something that no other clothing line
has touched on. Something original & exclusive, yet hot & straight hiphop. Through this
search we came up with J*Diza's Crochet. Just Another New York designer? Hell no! Everything
but that. Read why this shining NY talent's designs are worth every penny you spend & how
crocheting will be hot via J'Diza.

WHAT'S GOING ON J*DIZA'S CROCHET? LETS GIVE A FORMAL INTRODUCTION TO WHO YOU ARE AND YOUR ROLE
IN THE DESIGNING OF YOUR LINE.
( J*DIZA'S CROCHET)
J*Diza's crochet is an independent fashion clothing line developed by me, Hadiza. Basically
working all this project alone is tough but also exciting too. My role is I am the Head
designer/President of J*Diza crochet
( URB1 )
OF COURSE, FROM THE NAME, YOU CAN TELL WHAT YOU DO, CROCHETING. MY QUESTION IS, WHAT MADE YOU
TAKE UP CROCHETING AND WHAT GAVE YOU THE BRILLIANT IDEA TO THROW SOME HIPHOP FLAVOR INTO IT?
( J*DIZA'S CROCHET)
First of all, i knew a group of people in the neighborhood that knew how to crochet blankets
and i was admiring from what they were doing so i took it upon myself to crochet and it took
like about 5 to 9 people to teach me how to crochet from their point of view. I mean basically
they just taught me how to crochet a granny square blanket. i remember when i was making a
multi-color christmas color blanket (which has green, red and whole bunch of other colors in
it) and a lady that i know was like she wanted to buy that blanket that i was making and i was
hesistatin like no and this girl that i know was like "you're making money right there, you
should sell it" so thats when the light bulb went out in my head and so i sold it to her. This
was like when i was 15. Two years later from there, i taught myself how to make varities of
things w/o the books or someone showing me how to make bikinis, hats, scarves, purses, etc. I
wanted to be one of the RAREST designers out there because i always crochet from what i think
in my head instead of drawing because I'm usually a lazy drawer. I look out there of what
people be wearing different designers such as Enyce, Baby Phat, Sean John and I admire those
too so I wanted to bring out what people hardly wear. To mix in and give it flavor!
( URB1 )
IN A QUICK OBSERVATION, I'VE NOTICED THAT J'DIZAS NEVER DID ANYTHING FOR MALES. DO YOU CREATE
CROCHETED DESIGNS FOR MALES ALSO?
( J*DIZA'S CROCHET)
Of course, the hats, scarves and other items that can be worn for both sex is not
always for females. I've made a hat for my brother though. But anyway, I'm planning on making
accessories and clothing for men, children and plus sizes.
( URB1 )
WHAT'S THE HOTTEST DESIGN YOU'VE COMPLETED IN YOUR MIND? MAYBE SOME TOP PICKS FROM THE J*DIZA'S
CROCHET LINE IF YOU CAN'T JUST THINK OF ONE.
( J*DIZA'S CROCHET)
Wow, the hottest piece I think I've made was the one called Sunshine Teal (pictured at top of
this page). A young lady named Fatima modeled the teal and yellow dress for my photographs.
Also, the orange and white bikini that the female model Lean (2nd photograph: left) is wearing I
really liked too.
The overall hottest crocheted piece I've made is the one modeled by Delicia Powell
(2nd photograph: right). She's wearing the tropical bikini top that goes with the thong I
made. However, the real top picks of mine are still in my head. The ideas I have will be
something crazy for real!

BEING FROM BROOKLYN, I KNOW THERE'S A LOT OF DIFFERENT CULTURAL FLAVORS OUT THERE.
JAMAICAN, CUBAN, WEST INDIAN, PUERTO RICAN, DOMINICAN, HAITIAN, AND THE LIST GOES ON...
DOES YOUR WORK AT ALL TAKE INFLUENCE FROM THESE SURROUNDINGS?
( J*DIZA'S CROCHET)
Actually I was born and raised in Manhattan. Moved for queens and was there a while, before I
found a new home in Brooklyn.
I have seen alot of different clothing. For example, when I was in a fashion show competition for
the first time, I saw Gold Teeth Fashions and I had never heard of them. I thought they look
great.
I also saw YardManStyle's site too. Their clothing line, I thought it was creative.
I think that cultural differences has alot to do with my designs and helps it stands out. It
also gives an idea about what our culture is about and I think it's a beautiful thing. Culture
does make an influence, whether its just plain or colorful.
( URB1 )
WHAT EXACTLY DOES "J'DIZA" MEAN? YOU MENTIONED YOU MIGHT BE CHANGING THE CLOTHING NAME FROM
THIS BUT IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO KNOW WHAT IT MEANS.
( J*DIZA'S CROCHET)
J stands for my first name Jumat which means Friday (born on this day) in Arabic. Diza is
short for Hadiza which is an African name.
( URB1 )
THE NAME OF YOUR CLOTHING LINE AS I SAID PREVIOUSLY, IS GOING TO CHANGE. WHAT'S SOME NAMES
YOU ARE CONSIDERING? I THINK JURBONE IS A HOT NAME.. WHAT ABOUT YOU? *LAUGHS*
( J*DIZA'S CROCHET)
JurBone? Try again, lol. When I become as successful as Baby Phat, or Enyce whom I admire
both, especially Kimora Lee Simmons, I might consider a change to something new.
About the names I'm considering, that will be kept secret until I blow up.
( URB1 )
