Roc Drops Political Hat

The owners of Rocawear, one of hiphop fashion’s top selling clothing lines, is taking their fashion to the polls. Yes, Dame Dash, Jay-Z, and Kareem “Biggs” Burke, have gone political in a joint venture with the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network and Rock The Vote.
In September, Rocawearwill unveil a new political cap of their own for the young people across America in order to raise awareness of the upcoming vote.
The cap will have the three companies’ logos across placed on it and will also feature the slogan “ROC THE VOTE ‘04″ across the front. It will be sold online at both the Rocawear and Rock The Vote websites.
A portion of the profits made from the selling of the cap will be split between the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network sand Rock the Vote. Those profits will be used to further both organization’s campaigning and promise of getting more young people registered to vote in the upcoming November election.

A limited amount of autographed caps will be signed by Roc-A-Fella Records recording artists and Dame Dash himself. Those hats will be auctioned off via the Roc-A-Fella website.
“As I’ve gotten more involved in voter registration through the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network and our own Roc Weekends and events, I’ve seen how powerful the message of social and political activism has been to the kids we’ve come in contact with in each city,” commented Damon Dash. “We always do our best at Roc to put back into the community and to support causes we feel strongly about, and there’s nothing more important than empowering our kids to make things better. I feel good that Rocawearis bringing everyone together and making this statement.”
Rock the Vote is a non-profit, non-partisan organization, founded in 1990 in response to a wave of attacks on freedom of speech and artistic expression.
