Jermaine Dupri Teams Up With Cartier For Eyewear

Rap mogul JERMAINE DUPRI has teamed up with luxury brand Cartier to create a series of limited-edition eyewear to benefit America’s Hurricane Relief Fund.

Each pair will include Dupri’s signature and Cartier’s ‘C’ logo.

Dupri told AllHipHop.com, “I’ve been a long time supporter of Cartier and they know this.

“So, I was in the store one day getting something fixed and the thought (to create the eyewear) came to my mind. I asked for the manager and I’m thinking they gonna say ‘hell no’. But they took a shot and thought it was a cool idea.

“I wanted to do something that had my thoughts and prayers on it, so I was thinking of something special that would let the victims know I really care.”

The glasses, which are valued at $1,500 (GBP833) each, are being sold exclusively at the Cartier boutique in Atlanta, Georgia.

A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to The Atlanta Community Food Bank and City of Refuge – both local liaisons for the Hurricane Relief Fund.

Cartier, a high priced, long-running name brand, designs more than just eyewear. On Cartier.com you can see sunglasses, diamond jewelry, leather creations, and more

URB1.COM’s printed publication (URB1 Magazine) reported that not only has the exclusivity and price of Cartier created a high demand, but it has also created crime in the urban community, like anything else of high value and trendiness.

“Cartier frames are like a staple for the younger demographic in Detroit, Michigan. What some call the Urban Fashion Capital, the residents of that city into Hip Hop Music and fashion trends have built a high demand for Cartier’s eyewear. And with that demand has come crime, because a guy from the projects can make a quick four hundred dollars snatching glasses off your face, or out of your hands. But it’s not spectacular news. Sad but not spectacular. Anything with value and demand will forever go through this cycle” said Rodrick Rainey, co-founder of URB1 Magazine.

URB1 Magazine’s owners Jason Arabo and Rodrick Rainey, started the magazine in a joint venture from the two locations Detroit, MI and Greenville, SC.
