Pharell Williams Sues Reebok Over BBC
Multi-talented hip-hop star Pharrell Williams is suing sportswear giant Reebok for $4 million, accusing them of breach of contract.
The N*E*R*D singer and Neptunes producer’s clothing and footwear brand BBC (Billionaire Boys Club) filed a complaint in New York court before Christmas, alleging Reebok failed to produce clothing to BBC’s approval standards.
BBC’s complaint alleges, “In January 2004, only a few months after the execution of the agreement, certain Reebok personnel began to acknowledge to BBC that Reebok could not adequately produce the full range of licensed products. In a manner consistent with the design and quality standards and specifications required by BBC.”
“Reebok repeatedly assured BBC that the non-conforming and disapproved aspects of these samples would be corrected. Reebok, however, failed to correct these deficiencies.”
This comes after the shoe’s very successful debut across the nation and international countries. Rappers such as Slimm Thugg, Pharrell, and Fam Lay have been promoting the shoes subliminally through video cameos and magazine photographs.
Pharrel even went as far as to mentioning of his shoes during Snoop Dogg’s latest hit “Drop It Like It’s Hot”. The producer and rapper said “See these Ice Cubes // See these Ice Creams”, seemingly implying the shoes were highly exclusive.
The shoes, which feature Dollar Bills, Diamonds, and money symbols on the patent leather, are not sold in most stores. They even have a retail value of over $300, that successfully sells the shoe for many stores.
With the product in question and under investigation, Urb1 sources expect the product to start getting pulled from production lines.
