Sean John Cancels Pricey Womenswear Line For More Affordable Collection

Sean “Diddy” Combs has temporarily discontinued Sean John’s upscale women’s clothing line. While no reasoning has been cited, this comes after months of press and model signings promoting the future line.

Penelope Cruz, one of the models Combs signed for coming advertisements, had photos already shot in the womenswear line. Well known fashion photographer, Peter Lindbergh, was behind the camera taking photographs that captured the lifestyle of a celebrity being hounded by paparazzi.

Combs’ company recently inked a licensing agreement with G-III Apparel Group to manufacture a less expensive line of women’s clothes under the Sean John name.

The new line, “Sean Jean Women’s,” is expected to target a younger woman and cost far less than the earlier collection, giving it a broader reach and the potential to achieve higher sales, sources said

A spokesperson told Woman’s Wear Daily,” We are putting it on a hiatus in order to concentrate on our new business with G- 111 for the Sean John women’s line. We are not ruling out the possibility of this brand coming back in due time.”

Mr. Combs Sean John menswear line won him a CDFA Fashion award last year.

Worldwide, Sean John’s fashion empire is believed to be worth more than $450 million.
