The brand’s theme centers around an urban lux life style with references to the hip hop world. The line illustrates this theme with screenprint tees ” Lux Tax”, “The King” and “$”. Luxury Tax has prices to match its name, as tshirts start around $100.

Street fashion continues to influence fashion and be a moving force not only in New York and LA but around the world. Fashion history has well documented the importance of the “street scene” influence on fashion. The Hip Hop/ Rap styles from the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s influenced the way apparel products were designed, perceived, worn and marketed for a “flourishing new urban consumer”.
While times, styles and Rap/ Hip Hop have evolved so has their influence on fashion and consumer expectations. Current Hip Hop Moguls/ businessmen & women now have solid companies in the apparel industry and market their items to reflect today’s fashion sense while considering consumer and retailer demands. Styles are less loud and more about functionality, personal look, product longevity, diversity, quality and recognizable brands. Several entertainers from the Hip Hop/Rap world have “turned their looks into a fashion empire”.

Consumer demand and economic conditions will tell if the Luxury Tax Clothing Line will exceed sales expectations and move into the apparel market as a major force in men’s casual urban fashion. Will the line develop to be a strong competitor to the likes of Rocawear, Sean Combs, Acropolis Apparel, Dr. Jay or Karmaloop? Only time will tell.
