Streetwear Spotlight: Red Arme + GIVEAWAY

CHECK OUT THE RED ARME GIVEAWAYS ON THE BOTTOM OF THIS ARTICLE!
Taking an inspiration from something often results in having it taking over the whole concept, in most cases resulting in disaster. Having an idea that continues to inspire and remains on track can only be done by those who think on a different level. Meet the founder of Red Arme, Darryl Heslop, who has based his clothing line on Mixed Martial Arts. Sojones.com gets the lowdown on this kick-ass line.
Introduce yourself and describe how your brand was started? Why base your clothing line on martial arts, and what kind of martial arts are you referring to?
Red Arme’s Founder, Darryl Heslop, always held an entrepreneurial spirit. His love of mixed martial arts (“MMA”) brought out an idea he knew he had to follow. He wanted to create a brand that would encompass MMA, not only as a sport, but also a culture. Using his greatest asset, his networking skills, he built a name that speaks to the world of MMA. The brand speaks to not only to the fighters, but also to those who dream of becoming one.
The idea behind this brand is to give an individual who wears a Red Arme garment the feeling of being part of something that is representative of a group able to speak to the masses. Each shirt was created to fit the body just as the armor of a soldier fits before he goes to war. The brand aims to promote leadership, loyalty, and discipline.
What makes your product different than any other sportswear or training wear?
Our line is different for many reasons. The marketplace is swamped with highly capitalized corporate entities masquerading as independent brands and labels. Red Arme is a grass roots enterprise. It is an apparel line designed for the most demanding individuals who are not interested in following the pack, but leading their own. In fact, a core component behind our product line is our commitment to those who love the sport and who are also looking for quality and style. The quality of the shirt has been described as a silky soft shirt that feels great against the skin. The Red Arme shirt can be worn in the gym or on a night on the town.
Additionally, the prints for our shirts are designed by influential arts in Japan. This provides our garments with a unique Asian flair.
What celeb or well-known figure(s) exemplify the brand?
Currently, we are in discussions with media and entertainment company HYTME (www.HYTME.com) to procure celebrity attachments and endorsements for our brand.
Any product placements on celebs, in movies or videos to keep an eye out for?
Red Arme was recently featured on a local news channel in Texas where our shirts are created. The piece was based on our garment printer who is one of only ten vendors in the country adept at the all-over-printing concept. Our King’s Crest shirt was featured because it illustrates the complexity of work the company is capable of undertaking.
Red Arme shirts are also featured in mixed martial arts gyms in New York, New Jersey, Illinois and Quebec and Toronto, Canada.
Any expansion plans?
Future plans include a second line that will be featured towards the end of the year and other plans include hats, shorts, and a women’s line.
Looking ahead over the next year or two, what themes/looks/styles do you see your brand gravitating to?
Red Arme shirts are geared towards tough, yet sophisticated athletic individuals who appreciate the style and beauty of a Japanese or Asian inspired flair. This is the look of today and we believe it will carry and evolve into the future.
What themes/looks/styles do you see your brand moving away from?
Our brand stays away from the typical logo T-shirt that focuses on having the name of the brand sprayed all over the shirt and lacks in the area of creativity. Red Arme’s garments are fashion forward. They embody an esthetic that is synonymous with our brand. We are not hiding behind our logo. Instead we use each and every garment as an opportunity to represent and reflect not only or logo, but our company, in a uniquely different manner.
What has been a surprise fashion hit over the last year?
The look that seems to be working now a days is a slim-fit T. More consumers are looking for a t-shirt that is hugs the body in a more stylish manner. The days of overlarge t-shirts are fading away. Red Arme shirts are slim fit and designed to encourage and applaud the athletic build.
The Red Arme collection is priced around $30.00 each and you can get them at their official website: www.redarme.com. Embrace the fighter in you with these hot, SoJones-approved pieces from Red Arme. And you can win them too! Read giveaway rules at the bottom of this article.
