Amivectio is the brainchild of founder Hector Estrada’s desire to change the current state of fashion. The brand name is a fusion of two powerful latin words: “Amicus” meaning friend or comrade, and “circumvectio” which means to revolt or assail. The combination of these words bring about a neo-modern term meaning “friends of the revolution.”

Be part of the social revolution by wearing Amivectio's "Peace of Mind" tee.
Amivectio’s design philosophy is to strengthen modern Americana fashion while rejuvenating traditional trends with functionality and innovation. All Amivectio apparels are guided by the virtues of beauty, quality, comfort, balance, rhythm, and inspiration.
Hector’s inspiration for Amivectio was also drawn from the concept of Social Revolution, one that is set to change the face of the clothing industry as we know it by inspiring fashionistas to change – if not improve – their fashion styles. Although Hector, a New Jersey native, does not have the answer to social revolution just yet, he is trying hard to find it with the help of Amivectio.
Amivectio strives to break the barriers when it comes to streetwear by presenting a “more versatile” version of the garment. They try to transcend messages in a subtle, yet stronger voice. After all, Amivectio is all about you – the wearer.
With the “social revolution” as his inspiration, Hector, who was inspired by Stussy, Patagonia, and Stone Island during his younger years, strives to do things that are meaningful. He expressed that “Amivectio will deliver useful and groundbreaking designs that will make you feel and look good, while inspiring revolution by design, communication, and community. After all, we are Friends of the Revolution”. And he made enough friends of the revolution as he estabished collaborations with New Era, DC, and Brad Digital.
This collection is geared towards “progressive and eclectic individuals who embrace environmentally friendly practices”. According to Hector, he believes that people oftentimes need a change in idea – and that Amivectio is his proposal for that “change”.
His drive for “change” started with his former stints at Mecca, Marc Ecko Enterprises, Transfer, and Cargo show – which frustrated him because of their desire to market more than any other thing. After all, Hector believes in not only creating product, but also to inspire. His first line, Triko, became his first main vehicle – and Amivectio followed suit. He believes in designing for people who felt the same way he did – people who crave for change, inspiration, truth, and creativity.
Nowadays, Hector views fashion as “mechanical”. In his interview with Joshspear.com, he expressed that most brands are on “auto-pilot mode”, which involves copying and manufacturing. Hector cites these robots and their role in copying, manufacturing, and filling shops and stores with neon and all over prints – which may have breathed a wisp of fresh air to streetwear – but to the detriment of many.
Hector added that the fashion industry is a rat race for the most part. “Fortunately there are a few original and progressive creatives on it,” he expressed. Yet despite of his distaste for what fashion has become, Hector and his designers at Amivectio continue to strive for streetwear items that are unique, functional, and fun.

Speak the truth with Amivectio's vibrant "Truth Seeker" long sleeve tee.
According to Hector, every item in his newly-launched Spring 2009 collection (released through select retailers such as Karmaloop.com) will be an innovative yet functional spin-off of the traditional streetwear. Expect stylish items such as timeless crew neck sweatshirts with added side mobility and chain stitched messages such as “Truth Seeker”; classic lightweight knits made of 100% Peruvian Pima; Traditional collar button-down shirts with ventilation and adjustment systems; and other items which will feature asymmetrical accents. These new items have already found their way on the pages of Trace magazine, courtesy of writer Mikaela Gauer.
More than just dressing stylish people, Hector believes in telling his brand’s story and imparting its values. In his desire to communicate with the “friends of the revolution” Hector utilizes all the tools he have at hand to foster brotherhood and camaraderie in the community – his web blog, ad campaigns, events, and most importantly, the Amivectio apparel.
Besides his clothing line being inspired by the social revolution, he also believes in a notable number of causes, such as equal opportunities, clean air, water, soil, and energy, health and sustainability, education, peace and progress, and tolerance. With quality apparel and noble ideas in tow, it’s no wonder why Amivectio apparels appeal to the fashionistas of today.
