The basis of success as they say is learning from the experts. This is exactly what Mikol Stambaugh did when he established Amongst Friends while being the Sales and Brand Manager for King Stampede Clothing. With his experience and guidelines from Nick Langella, Mikol Stambaugh gathered up enough knowledge and creative ideas to build a fashion line on his own. From the name itself, Amongst Friends is made up of Mikol Stambaugh and a team of friends – Sam Ouk of New Eras, graphic artists Frank Velluci and Big Frank, and Joseph Whiteley.

With an objective of taking selective influences – the idea of taking in certain trends and mixing it with original ideas and concepts – Amongst Friends rises above the others. This brand is not all about streetwear; in fact, Amongst Friends is designed from the concept of golf-wear. Mikol Stambaugh, who learned golf from his father developed a love for the sport, incorporated golf style into streetwear, resulting in a line that generates clean and preppy yet urban designs.

Amongst Friends offers a men’s line consisting of preppy, classic and “oxford-looking” tops and sweaters, simple shorts, funky belts, basic colored tees with light graphic designs, and cute multi-designed caps. Although with plans to release a line for women and kids in the future, Mikol Stambaugh currently aims on focusing and perfecting Amongst Friends’ men’s wear collection.

Classic, preppy and cool Amongst Friends Sweater

Being a unique brand and probably the only one that offers preppy yet funky and fun clothes, Amongst Friends has been featured on a variety of magazines and high-profile websites. These magazines and websites include High Snobiety, Sneak Hype, Strictly Fitteds, Unequalled Magazine, Vapors Magazine, Slam X Hype and Complex. Rap artist Bow Wow has also been seen sporting one of Amongst Friends’ tees.

The brand may still be a small company, but it sure is growing as its collection is now available in New York, California, Massachussetts, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington, Georgia, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, Vermont, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Arizona. Outside of the country, Amongst Friends is available in stores in Canada, Australia and Denmark.
