The latest designer clothes may feel great to wear, but can be damaging to our pockets. With a troubling economy and a shrinking spending power, fashionistas are now challenged to not only look good but look good for less. Luckily for us, Blaque Label fills this need very nicely with its high fashion pieces without the sky-high prices.

Designer and founder of Blaque Label, Vanessa Lee has great admiration for European style. During a trip at Paris, she was awe-struck by the bold and over-the-top sense of style by Parisian women. She loved their confidence and the way they can pull off looking so made up and yet making it look casual. With those things in mind, she says, “How great would it be if I could start a runway-inspired ready-to-wear collection that would be affordable, yet look like you just got back from Paris Fashion Week? That’s when I decided to start Blaque Label.”

Blaque Label was founded in Los Angeles with its name driven from the idea that the “black labels” of a collection are the most expensive and highly sought after pieces. Blaque Label wants every woman who is an avid follower of runway and haute couture fashion to have access to pieces that would otherwise burn the pockets.

Designers Vanessa Lee and Kathy Lee created Blaque Label to be both casual and luxurious and contemporary in focus but young in spirit. Every Blaque Label piece created can be worn casually and be used as evening wear. Vanessa Lee and Kathy Lee currently focus mainly on creating classy and chic tops and dresses for the Blaque Label collection.

Blaque Label’s first collection debuted in the Phoenix Fashion Week 08. The collection of short cocktail dresses were well-received. Critics lauded Blaque Label as “the highlight of womenswear” with their silver and black cocktail dress becoming an instant hit with the audience. Others gave Blaque Label an “honorable mention.”

Their next major appearance was at Girls Rock NC, a nonprofit organization that “encourages young girls to be confident young women in their communities.” Blaque Label was one of the participants in this New York-style Fashion Show just last April 2009.

Blaque Label also recently participated in FAME, Accessories The Show and Modal, just this May. They were then hailed as the “best source for junior/young contemporary lines that are fresh, fun, innovative with the right blend of trend.”

For their spring collection, Blaque Label can be found participating at the Phoenix Fashion Week once more. It does not stop here though. Just recently, Blaque Label was also added into KarmaLoop’s inventory. Its clothes can also be found at ThisNext, Serendipity 3 Boutique, UrbanMix, and Juniper 100, among others.

Blaque Label is a heaven-sent brand that is quickly gaining recognition and fans. With its trendy and classy European-inspired clothes at affordable prices, Blaque Label can be found at 1458 S. San Pedro St. Ste. 203, Los Angeles, CA 90015. Their spring 2009 collection at the Phoenix Fashion week can be viewed at cashak.tv.
