Brixton was created in 2004 by three friends – David Stoddard, Jason Young and Mike Chapin – who wanted to share their lifestyle through unique clothing. The brand is inspired by the sentiments of music, culture, and people around them. Their frustration in finding fashionable caps and hats somehow drove the triumvirate to create a company which caters to the accessories they felt were not given importance in the market.

Brixton's Hooligan cap remains to be one of the company's bestselling headgear.
David Stoddard, the creative force behind Brixton, aims to “design styles that are clean and timeless”. The label’s name was inspired by Clash’s hit song, “Guns of Brixton”.
The San Diego, California-based Brixton takes pride in its unique yet timeless pieces, which are hard to copy and duplicate. The merchandise continues to appeal to fashion-forward people with its modern yet traditional aesthetics. Besides its design, Brixton glorifies each of its merchandise’s quality. True enough, Brixton products exude of beauty and quality that patrons would find themselves wanting more.
Brixton specializes in headwear – particularly hats and caps for both sexes, although it seems that customers can mix and match their styles with either men’s or women’s hats.
Some of the label’s famous head gear for men are Stroll, Hooligan, Gain, Brood, Castor, Busker, Ruffian, Bridge, Fiddler, Bruiser, Heist, Semi, Pinch, and Drifter. Some of the many fans of Brixton headwear is Twilight’s Peter Fascinelli, who adores his Gain hat.
Best-selling women’s hats include Parlor, Codger, Bridge, Topper, Coy, Clobber, Flapper, Milton, Fiddler, Trundle, Castor, Drifter, Brood, Busker, Hooligan, Clasp and Cadence.
Although originally geared towards head gear, Brixton also designs Jackets, Tops, Tees, Scarves, Belts, and Wallets for both sexes which still maintain the line’s trademark clean colors and lines. The Men’s collection showcases the Edwin Jacket; Barron, Malice, and Dead Ringer tops; and the Side Pocket, Marque, Heritage, Poise, Shamble, React, Bower, and Scrapper tees.

Castor, Brixton's famous straw hat, is also a favorite among hat enthusiasts.
The women’s collection, on the other hand, is adorned by the Legion Jacket, Priscilla Top, and female versions of the Marque, Heritage, Poise, and Shamble tees. Other products include the Tyrant Scarf, the Roper, Truss, Thrill, Panic, and Croon belts.
Brixton has also collaborated with Hawaii-based company In4mation. The fusion of aesthetics resulted in the birth of a hat which used the model “Castor” as the canvass. The collabo hat features an antique nickel pin, a wide array of colors, and special printed satin lining.
The three friends behind Brixton owe their business know-how to their work experience in Transworld media. With this in the bag, the trio managed to forge fruitful relationships with people involved with fashion, advertising, producing, among many others.
Brixton merchandise has landed on the pages of the Skateboard Journal, Swimsuit, XXL, Under the Radar, Glide, Fader, Surfing, Skateboard Mag, Antenna, Foam, Flaunt, Filter, Riviera, Flogging Molly, Flow Card, Spin, Transworld Skateboarding, Vapors, Damsel, Bliss, Jane, The Block, FHM, Guys, and Vice. Although many personalities love to don their Brixtons, the company takes pride in advertising their headgear with the help of their friends – who gamely pose in their Brixtons.
