Chrishabana

Chrishabana is a contemporary jewelry collection named after its free-spirited designer, Chris Habana. The Brooklyn, NY-based line, which debuted in 2004, is famous for its playful yet subversive pieces.

Jewelry icon Chris Habana is renowned for his ability to transform dark, gothic elements – from asteroids, drowning girls and the “fly trap” – to fresh, funky pieces. Chris Habana is inspired by designers Tsumori Chisato, Bernhard Wilhelm, Walter Van Bierendonck, Lanvin, Bless, Lanyard, Margiela, Basso and Brooke, Eley Kishimoto, and Clements Ribeiro.

Chris Habana adds, “My collections are products of the constant battle in my head between doing what I want to do, and doing what I think I should do. It is always an interesting battle, and I’m always surprised by what wins.”

Chris Habana finds inspiration in almost everything – from pop icons, cartoon characters, occult imagery, pornography, victorian charm, dungeons and dragons, hippie culture, raves, things seen from the corner of your eyes, rock anthems, love songs, poetry, cheesy movies, travel, my loves, to his own life. His penchant for design has started early on. From jewelries, Chris Habana has transcended to prints and apparel.

Chrishabana accessories, all print heavy, color heavy, crafty, and fit for both sexes, are composed of necklaces, hats, earrings, cuffs, leis, badges, medals, bracelets, and pins. The label’s latest collection – that of Spring 2009 – truly reflects the Chrishabana philosophy with pieces inspired by “Saved By The Bell” era aesthetics and late 80’s to 90’s surf culture.
