David Scalese owner of Deter
The DETER clothing line (also under the name DETERmined) began as a side project for owner and created David Scalese in 2001, an art major from Atlanta, who later moved to Santa Monica California. When David’s line was in its beginning stages, he focused mainly on menswear and pop culture products. Now he has broaden his fan base by taking his clothing line mainstream. Now DETER’s line focuses on affordable streetwear clothing for women and men. Although, DETER has yet to receive any celebrity endorsement or branding, this company is doing well since their eight year debut. But David’s current partnership with Loungefly has given DETER the global notoriety amongst major retailers and press, such as, Karma Loop’s Kasbah, Antenna, Urban Outfitters, Touch, U Mag, Amnesia, AP, Metro Park, and Planet Funk.
In addition to its collaboration with Loungefly, DETER still maintains its own apparel line. DETER clothing makes a bold imprint on street wear clothing this season with garish layering of screen print motifs, in bold colors of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black; in which some are a backdrop to black and white pictures of owls, penguins, and monkeys. Most of DETER’s line for men and women is 100 percent ringspun cotton slim fit t-shirts with a vintage wash. However, every year this line brings us some new sayings with wild and badass flavor on their graphic t-shirts like “Out for Blood,” “Come play with DETER”, “No Hat-ers,” or a classic “Sketchbook/Home sweet Home” t-shirt with memorable typography and slogans.

All the t-shirts in this line is in reference or reminiscence to retro 80’s fashion of rock bands, hot girls, linked chains, and B-boy style. Nevertheless, the key items that brings DETER to the forefront, as a cool and eccentric brand is their chain-linked necklace made out of fabric, and zip-up outerwear. Right now, not much is going on with this company but if you need to see any upcoming events or whereabouts with this brand and its owner head over to http://www.myspace.com/deterclothing.
