In 1969, Australia’s laidback surf community saw the birth of Hot Tuna, a pioneering surf-style label. Forty years after, the label continues to promote the creativity, authenticity, and non-conformity that Hot Tuna is famous for.
Hot Tuna, with designers based in Sydney, LA, and London have had work experience at other surf brands such as Quick Silver, O’Neill, Ocean Pacific, Rip Curl, and Perry Ellis International. Because of this massive amoung of experience, it is no wonder why Hot Tuna is famous for creating stylish yet functional men’s, women’s and swimwear collections. The company’s inspiration has always been “not taking anything too seriously”, which is obvious in the label’s laid-back lifestyle.
Leading the company are Geoffrey O’Connell (Director), Kiran Morzaria (Non-Executive Director), and Anna Kenney (Head of Women’s, Men’s and Swimwear Apparel). In July 2006, Australian model Elle MacPherson was named executive director of the company.
True to its surfing roots, Hot Tuna supports pro and amateur surfers like Sarah Beardmore, and Collin O’Rourke.

Celebrities seen in Hot Tuna include High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens. Also, the label’s Copper Tribal Bikini has been the swimsuit of choice for the Ms. Vietnam Global 2008 Competition. All contestants looked radiant in the bejeweled, warm-toned swimsuit.
Hot Tuna has been featured in a number of magazines, including Seventeen, Cosmogirl, In Touch Weekly, Life & Style, WWD Fast, Transworld Business, Antenna, and Apparel News.
Whereas other surf brands have gone mainstream, Hot Tuna still remains true to its philosophy. In fact, Hot Tuna can only be purchased from a number of surf shops and fashion boutiques. Merchandise can also be obtained from a handful of online retailers such as Amazon, Adrenalin Sport, Big Wednesday Surf, Cult, Extreme Pie, Free Spirit, House of Fraser, Livv Life, Oli, Rip 101, Shore, Shred Head, Surf Dome, and XS Fashion.
