Loud & Obnoxious

The founders of L&O

The Loud & Obnoxious label began in 2007 and was founded by brothers Matthew and Vincent Apostol with friend, Brian Kim. Still, the whole fashion and designing business actually started in 2004, when their band needed some merchandise to sell  because they felt that other printing companies were too expensive. This made the brothers realize that they can actually print shirts in their garage with a squeegee and screen. This marked the beginning of their screen printing company, the Glad Rags Ink. The idea of street wear was proposed by Brian Kim and in just three weeks.

Loud & Obnoxious, because of their love of chaotic rumbles in places, became the name of their brand. It debuted at Dunk Exchange, a clothing and sneaker expo with their first tee that grabbed attention immediately – the Fast Times at High School Musical, with a censored Vanessa Hudgens image. It was only a few weeks later, when Karmaloop featured L&O at front page. This was the time when the Apostols and Kim recruited Robert Pfeffer for help in doing paperwork, licensing and taxes. Friend and designer Justin Enriquez joined them soon after to help with the designing.

The Fast Times at High School Musical

Loud & Obnoxious’ main mentality for their label was DIY or Do-it-Yourself. Although their label boomed business quickly because of their creativity and originality, the boys remain down-to-earth. Not only do they continue designing every piece of the clothing, but they also screen print their tees. The boys do everything themselves for the brand – designing, manufacturing and even sales and marketing.

The label began out of the boys’ discontentment at the state of street wear and young fashion. Their desire to bring out refreshing designs, along with their punk and hardcore metal influences, truly epitomizes the SoCal lifestyle. Inspiration and designs come from friends and family and personalities of each of the boys as they all prove to be quite loud and obnoxious themselves.

L&O currently offers street wear for men and ladies, with their product line ranging from t-shirts and sweaters with awesome self-printed designs. The collection can be found in stores like C Merks, the Hub, Egotrip, Altruistic, Authentix, Rooted Movement and State of Mind. Online, the label is sold at www.karmaloop.com, www.toyboxtim.com and L&O’s website: www.loudobnoxious.com.

The label is turning 2 years as of 2009, and the boys are feeling the heat. With their love for fashion and street wear and their personalities combined with their shirts, Loud & Obnoxious will always be one of the most searched clothing lines for street wear.
