Love Brigade's Women's Collection.
Love Brigade is a clothing collection founded by Alyssa Key, Jamie Rockaway, and Christopher “Tinypants” Dang in 2005. The collection is inspired by the phrase “Think Outside the box,” and is obvious in its clothes – ranging from a futuristic feel to a modern rock vibe.
As for the inspiration behind the name, Alyssa Key said in her interview with St. Louis Fashion Week: “The name Love Brigade was originally created to represent the overall feeling of the modern day thinking – that we are all part of one unit, marching to the same beat of the same drum toward our passions because, frankly, we can…and so came the name.”
Alyssa added: “As a collective, we have always used a formula for our collections. We site one fashion trend and one music trend, and combine them to make a story by which we design. As individual designers, we each have our own inspirations from which we pull.”
Love Brigade draws inspiration from multitudes, which is obvious in the theme of its collections: Medieval (Autumn Winter 06), Namehato (Spring Summer 07), Highway Dylan Revisited (Autumn Winter 07), Sesen IV (Spring Summer 08), and Love, Kurt (Autumn Winter 08).
So what sets Love Brigade apart from other clothing lines? Alyssa believes it is the line’s ability to to create a balance of fashion-forward and trendy RTW’s which everybody can afford. She also believes that they are set apart by their mission and story. As Alyssa puts it, “(It has) something for people to grab onto, rather than just a clothing line that makes cool shit.”
The clothing collection, which was first based in U.K., found itself moving to the shores of the United States in 2006 when they relocated the office to New York. Celebrities seen in Love Brigade include Cyndi Lauper, Danny Masterson, Regina Spektor, Izza Kizza (under Timbaland’s ward), Mates of State, Lars Ulrich, the Black kids, Peaches, Metro Riots, the Vesties, and K.I.N.G.S.
