Mayan Tamang Productions began producing clothing in Boston, Massachusetts in 2006. Mayan Tamang created this company in 2002 with an award winning documentary. The clothing line was created to encourage people to live their dreams and express their creativity. The brand has gained success through the clothing produced as well as the films that have been created by the company.

Mayan Tamang was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. However, when he reached his teens, his father moved him to a small village in Nepal called Tamang. This village is where his father grew up and is where Mayan spent several years of his life living and learning about his lineage. This trip was a fortuitous venture for Mayan. The people of Tamang encouraged Mayan’s love for art and fostered his creativity. They then encouraged the young man to set out on his own to gain a better appreciation of the people and cultures that had inspired him.

Mayan traveled the world and found that art was everywhere in the people and places he visited. Mayan decided he wanted to tell the story of some of the people he had encountered in his travels. In 2002 he filmed a documentary called “ICHI” that chronicled the music and lifestyle of Hip-Hop. After winning the Morgan State Film Festival award, his film went on sale in major cities around the world. The film became an international success for the young entrepreneur. Mayan soon became very famous among the street culture. In 2005 he created the documentary “DOS”, the sequel to “ICHI”. The second film just was as much a success as the first.

After creating a name for himself in the film industry, Mayan set out to create something new. In 2006 he created the Mayan Tamang line of clothing. The graphics that adorn the clothing produced gain their inspiration from art, music and the many travels of its founder. Mayan Tamang has set out to continue the street culture and encourage people to their lives to the fullest through his work in the street wear industry.

Already in its third season, the street wear company produces clothing for those who live well and appreciate creativity.
