Pre. K Apparel

Dress your toddler in a makeshift tux with the adorable tux onesie design
Anyone who says that being fashion-forward can only start at a certain age has probably not yet heard of Pre. K Apparel. For the people behind the Pre. K clothing line, you’re certainly never too young to carry off the street vibe and look smashing at the same time. Pre. K, which is an acronym for “Pop Re-appropriation for Kids”, was established in 2009 in the heart of Boston by fashion conscious individuals Brian Pope and Renatta Hosein, who wanted to capture a market for streetwear which is not yet saturated by the countless other streetwear brands that exist. Renatta is no stranger to fashion – she has worked for several fashion shows and is a head merchandising honcho in the online streetwear retailer, Karmaloop. Despite the brand being a newcomer in the industry, it has managed to take baby steps in making the brand known to its target market, steps which it hopes would eventually translate into bold, sweeping success.
Pre. K Apparel designs are inspired by the vibrant, colorful pop-art styles found in many of their adult streetwear counterparts – sans any evident provocativeness or vulgarity, of course. Dubbing their brand as “streetwear for those under five”, Brian and Renatta believe that babies’ clothing serve as the perfect avenue for streetwear styles, since streetwear is fun, playful and colorful – just as babies’ clothing should also be. The clothing label was also born out of the pair’s desire to add variety and excitement to the current selection of babies’ and toddlers’ clothing, which they feel have mostly plain, repetitive designs. What Pre. K brings to the table are fun and funky onesie designs which drop the cheesy factor but still pack in a whole lot of cute, adding vibrancy and color to the babies’ everyday getup. For parents who want to instill the value of being unique in their kids and are tired of the conventional styles that other baby clothes have to offer, then this label is definitely something to dress your tots with.

Fussy, discerning moms also won’t be disappointed by the quality of Pre. K clothes – the onesies are made with soft 100% cotton, ensuring only maximum comfort for their little one whatever activity they might be engaged in, whether it be taking their afternoon nap, snacking on milk and cookies, or running around in the play room. The inner clothing labels are also tagless, to add to the comfort factor and to make sure that the tiny tots don’t spend their time scratching behind those pesky clothing tags.
The label’s initial collection of 18 onesie designs all feature something fun, colorful, and unique, which have a touch of humor as well. Some of the label’s adorable designs include the Andy Warhol-esque pop art print of the infamous Gerber baby icon, as well as the “Safety First” design, featuring a print of a safety buckle to give the impression that the toddler is safely strapped in.
Start them young – in being fashionable, well-dressed, independent-minded individuals that is – by donning them in Pre. K Apparel duds. Pre. K Apparel onesies can be bought from online retailers Karmaloop.com and Amazon.com.
