Sabre Vision

Paper Magazine featuring Sabre's Poolside Zebra
Sabre Vision is an eyewear brand that hails from a surf and skate loving team. Founded by Brooke McGregor, this brand is, in their own words: “a definitive, raw social reaction to the saturated corporate surroundings. Our psychedelic anarchists are re-creating a new and original balance of creativity, community and lifestyle.” If you want to know who introduced the whole hang loose culture to modern day California, then look no further. Sabre vision is responsible for bringing the relaxed Australian culture to the streets of Los Angeles, giving the city, and the rest of the country a new definition of hanging loose.
The eyewear industry experienced a recent boom in their market. But that doesn’t mean it can do without some fresh competition. Cue in, Sabre eyewear. Sabre started out as a small group of kids taking pictures of fun stuff. From starting a blog with pictures of kids doing bong hits and stealing taxis, this group of kids decided to make bumper stickers. Now, don’t get them wrong, they don’t encourage crime, drugs or violence, but a monumental moment caught on camera is something that should be seen and shared. The response they got for the boom of their sticker stint was where they got their motivation to make sunglasses.
Sabre Vision recently opened an international concept showroom in New Port, California, called Don’t Panic. It is curious to think if this is a reference to anything organic too. Here they display collaborations with other design greats, artwork, and a lot of other fun stuff too, including a fountain toilet for their thirsty patrons.

Speaking of which, they have done a bunch of collaborations with other companies making dents in the eyewear business. They recently did a collaboration with Washington D.C. based DURKL to create fresh shades that just scream psychedelic.
Sabre Vision prides itself in sponsoring interesting people. Some individuals they hav on their roster include skaters Tom Knox, Tyler Mumma, Al Partanen. They don’t believe in sponsoring “boring” people. It’s not about the marketing for these visionaries, excuse the pun, it’s all about love for what is fun and monumental. It’s all about the “hallmark moments”. They also have the talented surfer/skater/tattoo artist John Robertson under their wing. Their endorsers are quite the bunch of movers and shakers in their respective industries. This is why Sabre Vision has been sponsored by Blisss, MissBehave and Foam Magazine and many others.
