Spectrum Bags by Amanda Diva

Warning: Catching your first glance of a Spectrum Bag by Amanda Diva, adorned with huge Afros in neons and brights, could result in the sudden sensation of falling through a time warp. Few other brands today have been able to blend the psychedelic tone of the ’60s with ’90s hues so successfully. Even if you’re not a fan of that era, the colors alone are sure to catch your eye. And if you think the purses are colorful, just wait until you meet the artist, Amanda Diva.

Amanda Diva is the blossoming talent behind Spectrum Bags by Amanda Diva. At 28, she has already aced many things that people twice her age have yet to begin. As an accomplished actor, author, rapper, and TV and radio host, the unstoppable Diva is now amazing a whole generation of consumers with her new line of beautifully  hand-painted bags.

A painter since she was a teen growing up in Florida, Diva launched the Spectrum Bags line this past June at Karmaloop.com. Composed with acrylic paint on 100% organic tote bags, she finds her message in producing these practical applications of art with a hip-hop edge. The colors are bold, neon and bright, and her use of color combinations can’t help but make you feel good.

Her talents are not restricted to the private production arts, either. Recently she served as the celebrity host of the 10th Anniversary Spring Reading for the Girls Write Now non-profit organization. The free New York City event was staged at a local Barnes & Noble, where young women were provided a venue to present their original poetry and other writings to the public. Girls Write Now is a mentoring group staffed by volunteers that connect women writers with public school girls who have shown an interest in or talent for writing.

Diva shows no signs of slowing down. She plans to continue growing her tote collection, and eventually start to expand into jewelry. She also hints that a line of hip-hop streetwear is not impossible.

As for celeb endorsements of Spectrum Bags by Amanda Diva, it’s likely she could arrange for a number of them with all her music connections. But really, why would she want to? Aside from being the creative genius behind her product, she’s also the perfect pop culture icon to represent it.
