Spiewak merchandise was first launched in 1904 by visionary designer Isaac Spiewak. His first item was a sheepskin vest, which sold like hotcakes in the streets of New York City.
The first Spiewak office was based in a humble room in Brooklyn, and throughout the years, it has withstood trials like the Great Depression and both World Wars. In fact, World War I presented as an opportunity for Spiewak to delve into military uniform such as wool coats, jackets, and naval breeches.
With over a century of experience in the fashion business, Spiewak has definitely made its mark on trendy yet functional garments. Although it is famous for its uniform and work wear, Spiewak also boasts of a trendy outerwear collection which consists of jackets, coats, and parkas.
Now with the fourth generation Spiewaks Michael and Roy at the forefront of the company, they strive to continue a strong family tradition of keeping a “tradition of innovation alive.” The innovative minds at Spiewak strive to continue to strengthen the company’s firm foundations of creating fashion-forward garments inspired by classic Spiewak designs.

According to a Format magazine interview, Creative Director Dan Hendricks draws inspiration from two main sources: “Spiewak’s century of outerwear production archive and his long background working with vintage clothing.”
Hendricks adds, “I started in this business in the 90’s as a vintage buyer and each spring I still go to some of the same mid-western rag houses and roll around in dirty clothes. It may just be a stitch technique, a collar shape, or a wool pattern, but the pieces that come out of these always add core elements to each line.”
Spiewak also boasts of many collaborations with hit streetwear brands. Rapetti adds that: “Spiewak has always produced private label for many of the hottest brands including Supreme, Stussy, Barney’s NY, and Beams (Japan).”
Spiewaks have landed on the pages and webpages of famous fashion media outlets around the globe such as GQ, FHM, Entertainment Weekly, Women’s Wear Daily, MTV Networks, Sportswear International, XXL, Maxim, Men’s Health, Self, Complex, Esquire, Format, Outerwear, DNR, High Snobiety, Untitled, and IQ Style.
