Rick Cordero in SubCon Threads
From its humble beginnings, Subconscious Threads has skyrocketed their line in just 2 years. Starting out as a simple dream in a New Jersey college dorm room, who would have expected their New York based brand to attain so much success in such a short period of time? William De Angelo, CEO and founder of SubConscious Threads, brought together four more people to complete his dream team. SubCon threads was officially founded in 2007, where it just exploded into what it is today – one really kick-ass threads company. These guys have been gaining so much popularity by going against the flow and creating a brand that would be true to their beliefs.
These five individuals began with simple designs that they thought would look good on a t-shirt. As they began to get better at what they did, pretty soon they were selling shirts left and right. They say they got their name from having a desire to bring out the ideas that everyone thinks about but never says. SubConscious threads give an added depth to the superficiality of most other clothing brands. They officially opened their doors in 2007, being redistributed locally at first, and then finally extending their line in with stores all over the Northeast and the Midwest by 2008. They’ve also been present at the Magic tradeshow in Las Vegas for 2 years, showcasing their hot clothes.

CEO De Angelo and Charles Hamilton partyin' it up
They claim to have had no formal design training, yet their products just have this instant appeal that calls out to you. Even hip hop greats like Tony Yayo, 50 Cent and Charles Hamilton love wearing their stuff. Charles Hamilton can be seen spreading the SubCon love wearing nothing but their apparel in a spread in Fader magazine. 50 Cent and Charles Hamilton don’t hesitate to show they’re into SubCon, wearing their tees in 50 Cent’s movie and MTV show. But with the brand’s success among established artist and celebrities, Subconcious Threads still make it a point to sponsor up-and-coming artists, like Stan Lee Kubrick.
Subconscious Threads serves as an inspiration for anyone who would like to make their own stand and those who want to make it without letting go of their design principles. You can check out more of their dope shirts at their website, www.subconthreads.com
