W!ld Leek Summer 09 Lookbook featuring Mic Terror

W!ld Leek or (Wild Leek) is the embodiment of solid, good vibes, and nostalgia. From Jolly Rogers candy to Saturday morning cartoons of the 80’s and 90’s, that is what W!ld Leek is all about. W!ld Leek, etymologically speaking, is Chicago itself. Their label is here to remind you not to forget about those long gone idyllic days. And of course, W!ld Leek is a brand that screams “Chicago, Represent!”. The W!ld Leek team is headed by Kamal “Kamalkiddo” Williams, the founder and creative director of W!ld Leek, LLC. Their main designer is Jeremy Pettis from the DesignScout collective. Their goal is to create a community of supporters to keep those yesteryears alive.

W!ld Leek started out as a dream of Kamal in 2003, but was only realized in 2007 with the help of a friend and his cousin. They brought in two more people and a design team, and it grew from there. As you can see in www.wildleekworld.com their designs reflect their goals to a point, which begs the explanation of all those random characters all over their site: The Pointz. The Pointz are going to be introduced into print soon, according to Kamal Williams. W!ld Leek gets its inspiration from not only movies and all kinds of music, but also the diverse sites and sounds of Chicago.

W!ld Leek has been featured in the MAGIC convention and the Kicks and Chicks interview. They have been featured in Expoz magazine, and Arize too. They sponsored a party at the Legendary Buddha Lounge dropping party entrances down to $5 to anyone who spread the W!ld Leek loving. They also support a lot of up and coming Chicago artists, showing that they know how to keep it real. They recently did a 2009 Lookbook featuring artist Mic Terror in Millenium Park. They have also featured a lot of other fresh Chicagoan artists like Hustle Simmons, DJ Trilogy, DJ Boy Wonder, Dillaman and artist Drunken Monkee. Que B.I.L.L.A.H. also rocked W!ld Leek’s Unity tee at a Leaders 1354 party and at SXSW, showing much appreciated fandom.

Since being featured on Karmaloop.com and being in the top ten best selling brands, their merchandise has sold out in less time than it takes for a commercial to interrupt a Captain Bucky O’Hare Cartoon. Their clothing line produces mostly dope tees, hats, socks, and even vinyl toys of the Pointz. They promise that their next set of fresh tees are going to be bolder, and more graphic. They also plan on producing crew necks and hoodies to add to their store. Show some W!ld Leek love, drop by Karmaloop and check out their products.
